UNFRAGMENT (FRA) "AT DEATH'S DOOR" MCD-R 2001 Self-prod. This is one of my old friend's newer band experience, now back with a new line-up and a very professional layout made up onto this Demo! From the french spoken intro-cantation, they start great this 5-tracker with fast & thrashing Death Metal to the bones including some melodic & very catchy riffs. This is undoubtedly 666% Death Metal with plenty of old-school influences, many cool breaks with semi-technical arrangements here and there. The sound is like on first SINISTER's "Cross The Styx" and the style sometimes reminds it as well (especially some riffs in the 2nd track & after!). I experienced the band Live before listening to this and they were a real good surprise even if not real totally ready for Live performances that night, they recorded this very professionally, the structures they imagined has also some old SLAYER & BOLT THROWER, newer CANNIBAL CORPSE similarities knowing how to induce a feeling, a dark mood and a total Death Metal spirit! UNHALLOWED (USA) "PUNCHFUCKING BLASPHEMY" MCD 99 Self-prod. A girl is playing bass in this brutal band and it sounds more extreme than Lividity, they are faster and more original, hysterical, really they don't hold back their rage, no mosh shit, this is truly extreme Brutal Metal all the way, no sweet moment, they blast from the beginning to the end with a good technical level, reminds me HATEWAVE more brutal & pounding Death game, grinding! There is nothing common in this new band and I like that a lot, they are completely unpredictable, they shred without compromise with guttural & shrieking vocals definitely more extreme than the average and sounding like no one else, what a blast! The shit hardcore noise ending the 7th track is not for me but the rest I totally dig it. UNHOLY GHOST (USA) Demo CD-R 2003. Being formed by ex-DIABOLIC & ex-PESSIMIST members, this new band is a pure Death Metal incarnation as you might imagine easily! Fast as Hell, the first track sounds like ANGELCORPSE riffing with punishing unrelenting blasting madness like if DIABOLIC & BRUTALITY turned more extreme, full of solos & Evil moods as we were familiar with their two previous bands. The two other tracks are more-BID ANGEL sounding but with such excellent leads, damn I Love it!! I must say that it's not easy to create such unholiness without sounding too much like too many other bands, but nowadays this style's getting so rare that they're successful at keeping their entire own atmosfear all along these 3 tracks and simply delivering an unpalpable presence through obviously Evil intent... A real UNHOLY GHOST emerged from the speakers of Death, I'm absorbed by the games of the lead guitars, that's something I've always worshipped in Death Metal. The drums are unfortunately mixed too up front that's the only thing I can say about this Demo, but Hell that's a Demo right? As for the vocals they're well spewed an varies from high to medium Evil Death grunts, the way it must be! All in all, the three tracks are all played at each different paces, many breaks, structures & moods which is something to take into account today because now bands will make albums with the same linear brutality denying the essential essence of true old-school Death Metal, UNHOLY GHOST sure take the time to write & arrange good songs, they deserve credits for that originality and that is the reason why I'll end here with a huge BUY OR FUCKIN' DIE!! UNSEEN TERROR (UK) "THE PEEL SESSIONS" MCD 89 STRANGE FRUIT/LSR. Featuring Shane Embury on drums & Mick Harris on vocals!! This was old but I just recently found it at a very cheap price in a second hand record store, it's old NAPALM DEATH alike 100% of course! Maybe a little more hardcore vocals influences & traces of old Thrash/Death tunes a la Possessed can be heard on that peel sessions! Fans of pure old Grindcore certainly got this one in their collection for more than ten years now. Seems to be a rare item now. For fans of early NAPALM DEATH only!

T666 (AUSTRALIA) "Troops Of Satan" MCD 99 Self-prod. Blasting stuff! In the vein of old CANNIBAL CORPSE even heavier and more unrelenting, the sound is excellent, reminds me the Krabathor's "Lies", it's fuckin' fast a la old MALEVOLENT CREATION, damn heavy as Hell & hyper violent! Super low, inhuman guttural voice from beyond, trop puissant! It's not far to be the most brutal band of the whole Australia in my opinion, this "Troops Of Satan" sounds unstoppable, just a shame it's too short!! (only three trax!) I'm left hungry & thirsty for more of those pounding tunes from the Evil side of hatred: BUY OR DIE!!
TEARS OF DECAY (GER) "REDEMPTION" MCD 99 CUDGEL. Old-school Brutal Death Metal that reminds me old INCANTATION because of their sound and the overall atmosphere induced. Also DEHUMANIZED as well, there's similar beats. This is anyway good and I'm very pleased with this new band, they're tight and have great dark feelings as well as very good riffs. I got 4 tracks of raging & blasting Black Metal that's haunting the room with some Death Metal influences, it's a nuklear bomb! I like this pretty much, it's a band to look for if you're bored of the melodic/atmo. bm stuffs! Best comparison could include BLASPHEMY & BESTIAL WARLUST at some points but with higher vocals than those spewed out by the cults! It's maybe more in the vein of DARKTHRONE & MAYHEM finally, musically raw & fast, catchy as Hell!
THRONEUM (POL) "BESTIAL ANTIHUMAN EVIL" MCD 2003. That's pure rage delivered here by this intense Extreme Metal band, truly Brutal & Evil, no fun riffs in their songs, fast as SADISTIK EXEKUTION, unrelenting materials & diabolical like BESTIAL WARLUST the way Metal should be! Fans of MARTIRE might appreciate THRONEUM for sure, also fans of Australian extremities might embrace THRONEUM too: BUY OR DIE!!!

SACRALIS (GER) "BORTAS" MCD 98 Self-prod. I had reviewed this in the previous issue but I now get the original so I am able to communicate their address now. An all female band in true Death/Dark/Doom Metal is so rare since Derketa & Mythic split-up that it has to be known. Dooming heavy Death Metal is an old style that not so many bands perform these days, so this is another reason for me to speak about them once again in case the readers were not aware of that band. There are many good arrangements that are nothing but pure Death & darkness, there is no fun & no joy in this, it's pure Dooming Hell!! The sound is heavy & rips, thrashing like a catchy blasting spirit of abominations, this reminds me a lot the old TORCHURE albums and old Samael back in 92-93, with those malignant keyboards, Hell's bells & good death grunts full of obscure hatred... I love ancient tunes resurrected years after when everybody forget about these goodies! Their Evil atmosphere gives me the need to perform an obscure ritual... BUY OR DOOM!!!
SAURON (HOL) "TRUE HATE EMBODIMENT" MCD 2000 GLOBAL EXTINCTION. This is an intense, fast & extreme Black Metal band, they first remind me of ANGEL CORPSE but a little more Black influenced. SCYTHE (USA) "UNDEAD INFANTRY" MCD Self-prod. This reminds me the polish DAMNATION at the first approach by their riffing and speed but has lower & deeper vocals with also shrieking ones as well, many Black Metal arrangements can be heard too. Very well played, excellent drummer but the guitars lack of originality, too much predictables riffs for my taste... This is good enough to keep me interested anyway, this fast Black/Death/Dark Metal assault definitely sounds welcome here and it would have been a shame not listening to their unrelenting dexterity, BUY OR DIE!
SEVERED HEAD (?) "DESECRATION OF MY OWN GRAVE" MCD 2000 DIERIGHTNOW. Brutal Death Metal stuff here, violent and raw in the american vein, that's not bad but not good too, just average and I've heard this too many times I think, I'm bored! No excellent ideas heard here but a good raw sound and feeling like early DYING FETUS' Demos. For the fetus addicts only!
SEVERE TORTURE (HOL) "BUTCHERY OF THE SOUL" MCD 2002. Here's a band that I will qualify as the dutch CANNIBAL CORPSE, many of their songs are quite similar to old & newer C.C. materials. This disc unites their two 7"Eps and two other tracks including a cover of... CANNIBAL CORPSE' "Perverse Suffering". If you already had the EPs, I see no point for you to purchase this, except if you're a mega-fan of SEVERE TORTURE, I personally consider it as a good brutal band but Live... they were limit when I saw them for the first time at F.T.C. 2002, I was a little disappointed by their performance that day but I enjoy listening to their music and that is the most important thing, oh and yes the CANNIBAL cover seems to be the only reason to purchase this as it's damn well executed, at least it must be heard!

Obscure like Decrepit but different, it's really oppressing dark feelings here and I feel great while listening to these englishmen. Some experimental arrangements a la new Gorguts, even more obsessive saturations here & there...and Death Metal returns from the ashes of ancient darkness of forgotten times, once again with class & pride, many thrills did run down my back... This is true Death Metal with the obscure feeling, I adore! This is great, great, great! For truest fans only: BUY OR DIE!

This one's more doomy like Dusk but punishes the next few minutes with a real cruelty: again some raging & ripping Death Metal tunes, I don't know if that was out before or after the other MCD that same year, this is really obscure sometimes, very inspiring and haunting your mind… Argh it's already finished, I want more!! Evil old-school Death Metal in the vein of old DEICIDE, DEATH and newer CANNIBAL CORPSE but distinctively different, they're tight and play fast with enraged feelings of their own, also good production! This release is of high quality and really impressed me by the true feelings they created through "Furious Mind Degeneration", professional in every aspects and a pure Death Metal release performed with brilliance & originality, definitely awesome & excellent!! There are definitely skills in this band, many twists & turns the way Death Metal should be played! I can't remember one french band who had such unpredictable talent in musicianship to try & pretend sounding like the Tampa's gods...! I enjoyed this very much, no trends follower and purveyors of damn soulful traditions, we're currently witnesses of a new Death Metal revival here in... France with real musicians! No needs to say that this would be interesting to see them Live one day! It's real good and with a top-notch production, they deliver such a powerful skilful energy that it's a lot better with only 5 tracks than many new albums coming out! SUFFERAGE (GER) "BIRTH" Demo-CDR 2001 Self-prod. This was recommended to me by an old cousin from Poitiers… and he was right! This Death Metal band arrives with an incisive thrashing Demo! Tight and ready to conquer, just the vocalist seems needed to cup the mic, he has a saturated voice that is a little out of the music first but works well finally. Damn, they go fast, they punish like VADER & CRYPTOPSY sometimes while at the same time doing 100% their own original music. Best comparison would be PROFANITY country-mates, they blast as all Hell! I particularly adore the sound, its raw old-school vibes makes me remember of old PURGATORY & ASPHYX, and occasionally newer CANNIBAL CORPSE recordings, so not the typical modern low sound for sure! This is definitely a great Demo that will please all those adepts of extreme, intense & fast blasting aggressive thrashing Death Metal, unrelenting within the seven tracks + intro/outro. It's pleasant to hear new band like SUFFERAGE that don't follow the new trendy styles of "modern death metal", nearly 25mn of what I consider as a real MCD, this will beat your head off! I particularly adore the sound, its raw old-school vibes makes me remember of old PURGATORY & ASPHYX, and occasionally newer CANNIBAL CORPSE recordings, so not the typical modern low sound for sure! This is definitely a great Demo that will please all those adepts of extreme, intense & fast blasting aggressive thrashing Death Metal, unrelenting within the seven tracks + intro/outro. It's pleasant to hear new band like SUFFERAGE that don't follow the new trendy styles of "modern death metal", nearly 25mn of what I consider as a real MCD, this will beat your head off! R.U. DEAD? (GER) "NOTHING WILL BE FORGIVEN" MCD 95 ABSCHÄDEL. This is an old stuff again just to show everyone that morbid Death/Thrash energy, skilful & original, will forever dominate the scene by the Slayerian influence and some Asphyx similar structures, bref: it fuckin' rules!! The rage and intensity of such original musicianship is now practically dead these days, a lot of breaks & unpredictables arrangements aren't performed by the newer bands anymore, prefering to go for the simpliest way of writing music & denying originality... "Nothing Will Be Forgiven" contains nothing that will be forgotten at least that is my personal opinion, I'll forever remember this MCD for years & years. REGORGE (SLO) "Decerebrate" MCD 99. Damn the East countries got the strongest brutal scene, tons of bands from there!! This one's playing the most popular style: Death/Grind and it's again an ok release, the sound is a little deaf but the band is good, it reminds me of another band from there but just can't remember which one... It's fast, it's twisted and a certain originality thrown in & out, definitely good & deserving to be heard by all of you, not a clone band this time, they just got a little similar to Cannibal Corpse in some of the quick technical riffs which I like a lot! The last track benefit of a different sound mix, heavier than the rest of the songs.
REPROBATION (USA) "The Colour Of Gore" MCD 2000 FOREVER UNDERGROUND. This reminds me of SKELETON OF GOD a lot & also HUMAN REMAINS too! Very twisted Brutal Death musicianship the way these two bands played, also WICKED INNOCENCE, MASS PSYCHOSIS & TIMEGHOUL did something in that talented skilful way, very eerie guturality!! Lots of vocals changes and many unpredictable arrangements, no dyingfetus alike, this is a great truly underground band catchy as fuck & original as Hell!! I rarely got so much enthusiast with new bands but this one caught me in a corner, they're doing something that only a few can do: playing their own style in the uneasy way, musically twisted & malignant ranging from something doomy to more complex structures and creating a totally morbid mood of Death! Amazing new band, "The Colour Of Gore" is definitely blood red & slimy, obscure & standing high above the average with an overall atmosphere sick as while watching a total Dark/Gore movie after midnight... As the ones I knew before were total crap! This one from Portugal is again average, sort of Doom/Death with keyboards and a lot of different influences, unfortunately using some normal female/male vocals here and there… Reminds me of Aphotic a little but REQUIEM is more dreamy and common, plus doesn't possess the same quality. It sure reveals many mistakes but that's only a Demo and it makes me remember of the atmospheric trend that started maybe in 1992 with the first Nightfall album. I can't say that I like it nor if I will listen to it over again, that's definitely too soft for me and the singing voices just plain sucks! All in all a very catchy release based on old-school basis, pure headbanging guarantee! BUY OR DIE!!
REVEL DECAY (BRA) Demo. Brutal tunes from Brazil of Death: old-school is the style of REVEL DECAY, thrashing like the very old Krisiun and old Cannibal Corpse. Unfortunately lacked a little of real punishing ideas as some Slayer riffs were too repetitives and tend to become boring as I'm just listening to the first track...! The voice is ultra-guttural but all in all, it's a Thrash/Death Metal band, average and just lacking of some needed originality. Makes me reminding of a young spanish act who had a 3"MCD out promoted by repulse recs but I simply can't remember what was its name and that will certainly happen with REVEL DECAY too... Who will remember them in a couple of years? At least I don't know when it has been recorded... They sometimes use harmonizers like old Carcass but the main vocals rages & they are fuckin' Evil, blasting, blasting, blasting… 'till Death!!!!! I thank Satan for having spawned BLASPHEMY as avant-gardists to this Extreme underground Metal style, only a few bands can perform this! They now have that self-made MCD limited to 200 so I could only wish this being a little better... It's just a little higher than the tape but still remains below the average... I have never been an adept of simplist music with weak vocals & raw sound as such! Distorted grunts do not help me to get into such a primitive songwriting. Kind of badly made doom/death or should I say life metal? Their love for jesus is disgusting, how a metal band can write such gayness? Using some vocal effects like old Carcass even if they claimed not having used, hum... are you taking people as foul as yourself? That's been a very long time since their 7" & MCD out on Relapse, and they're still performing old-school Grindcore in the old vein of old NAPALM DEATH & TERRORIZER, old BRUTAL TRUTH... very similar to these old bands materials as well as many others do now. The tracks are short and repetitives but don't break any speed limits since the REPULSION epoch... The band has more quality & professional tunes than many newer bands today which are just doing it more noisy & crappy. So, that's a good one but remains very average to my ears anyway, I need it more extreme everyday!
PORPHYRIA (POL) "MAYHEMIC BLAST" Promo MCD 2003. What can you expect from a 12 songs/18mn Promo CD? But Grinding stuff for sure! I really have a problem with the drums, is it a machine or what??? Five guys in the line up but the drums really sound like a machine, in fact it's the most up front instrument in the mixing, not easy to understand the guitar parts when it blasts with a linear continuity... boring! A cover of Napalm Death's "Stalemate" did its day in this release. Oh, yes I nearly forgot: the band is very Damnable sounding and unfortunately not from their early and best days... If you need a grinding heavy blasting stuff, this sure will please you but if you're looking for a bit of originality, just take your existence elsewhere! Good sound if I make abstraction of the boring drums, it was a decent recording anyway but million of bands are doing this style these days. If you want another one: JAROSLAW PUCH, UL. Good haunted intro but the band is quite predictable and generic classic, basic Thrash/Death Metal déjà-vu et re-vu 100000 fois! They should release this as a Demo first in my opinion... While they play tight in the old Master style, they bring nothing exciting to the oversaturated Thrash/Death Metal scene, simply average & boring, devoid of any interest for me at the moment...

New brutal band with a title that relates to the music, this isn't perfect of course and the trend is about dyingfetusdevourmentdisgorgedeedsofflesh, so that's maybe why PUTRIDITY exists & copied their faves bands, at least doing something very similar, what can I say? 'faut bien que jeunesse se passe comme on dit ici... It's well played but I must admit that this style bores me now, I like the complexity but in this case the riffs are fun & grindy whilst I request darkened tunes & pure Death Metal music, the hybrid forms never reached me completely, you can play fast but if the songwriting means nothing to me, I see no point to align riffs after riffs without any real mood but if that is what you're looking for, then try this.

It's well played but I must admit that this style bores me now, I like the complexity but in this case the riffs are fun & grindy whilst I request darkened tunes & pure Death Metal music, the hybrid forms never reached me completely, you can play fast but if the songwriting means nothing to me, I see no point to align riffs after riffs without any real mood but if that is what you're looking for, then try this.

NATRON (ITA) "UNPURE" MCD 2000 NOCTURNAL. That was the old Demo from this band "A Taste Of Blood" back in '96/'97 along with two other tracks. They were performing a raw form of Brutal Death and already had that technical edge that we can hear in their first album "Hung, Drawn & Quartered" out on Headfucker. Their style was very SUFFOCATIONesque and we could mistake them for a US or a Canadian band! Cool idea to re-release this one, if you missed it, it's time for you to discover it now as the band is now unfortunately going in a very different way, BUY OR DIE!
NECROPSY (POL) "STRAIGHT HATE" MCD 2003. Damn good Death Metal band here, they blast & kill! Also original enough to find their own style of technical & unrelenting brutality, I'm impressed!! This is rare to hear now that all bands wanna sound like the trendy american clones, it appears that NECROPSY knows how to make a name for themselves with skilled brutality and authenticity. Above average musicianship here, they bring same Extremities like Cryptopsy do but with good grunting vocals and even more twisted in my opinion, the drummer is a damn demon behind his kit as he blasts like something I've never heard before and so are the other members, technical to the bone and performing leads with a dark inspiration! Argh! 3 new tracks for 17mn worth of technical brutality, this has nothing to do with their first album "The Realm Of Human Illusion" '95, they definitely get rid of the melodies and are now performing an awesome overpowering Brutal Death Metal like DEEDS OF FLESH but more original, it's a pretty intense & fresh listening! The second track "Exaltération" has french lyrics and contains bizarres arrangements totally trippy! The technical bass lines can be heard easily 'cos the mixing is very well done between all instruments, that gives them an original sound very fluid and dark. NEFAS (ITA) "TRANSFIGURATION TO THE ANCIENT'S FORM" MCD 2000 NUCLEAR ABOMINATIONS. Excellent Italian band, certainly the best that I could imagine to hear! They make me think about DAMNATION with morbid vocals like Purgatory/Immolation and some arising screamings a la Intestine Baalism, really fast and violent, apocalyptic... I really don't like those bass lines in tracks, it really sucks and ruin the songs completely but the rest is damn so great and impressive/inspiring, musicianship at the speed of light, unrelenting lust for blasting punishment through raw & twisted barbaric musical savagery, greatly obscure & haunted feelings... MACHIAVELIK (FRA) "JOIN-UP!" MCD 2001 MAFIA U.G./LE COMMANDO. Usually I won't pay attention to a band (especially a french band...) that proclaims itself to Deathcore or Brutal Death with hardcore influences, because it's sounding like starting to be the next big trend... but MACHIAVELIK is fortunately more Brutal Death than hardcore! In fact, there's no real hardcore to be heard (thanx!) in this 4-tracker MCD, as for the titles & artworks, they sure aren't Death Metal, more rap-from-the-city & fight-yo-man-point-of-view... maybe some occasional howling vocal cords didn't work with me... That is the only aspect that disgusts me & ruins the package but I don't give a fuck, I can burn the booklet & back cover if I want! Otherwise, musically just plain skilful, technical structures and picky, vicious riffs with a very heavy CRYPTOPSY influence without the core-vocals, here they are grunting and deep raging from the guts combined with some occasional grind screams, all this reminds me the GORGUTS' "Obscura" kind of vocals but lower. Anyway, he sometimes roars too much but I can live with this! Not so much Dying Fetus alike finally (which starts getting boring), I was very surprised by the high quality of this new band, they crush!!! I would never suspect they're a french band, with all those grindnoise jokes the scene has to endure nowadays, I'm rarely enthusiast about my country, it's slowly changing and some bands are obviously rising more matures and professional than others for the better! I can't count the number of french bands I found excellent in this issue, this is really a good news for all of us that desperately attended to see it happening, hey wake-up, it's now done!! Problem now is to find real support from this non-Metal country and opening the minds to real Morbid Death Metal but it's another thing... If you thought that blast beats were just recently invented by some brutal & heavy grind bands like Devourment, you wrong, within six months of existence (12/12/91 to 06/05/92), MAGUS managed to accomplish what today many Brutal & Technical Death/Grind bands do, the only difference is that MAGUS had the talent to include influences from extreme Doom & Atmospheric elements creating a style for themselves. Today, bands will only try to sound like each other instead of reaching something from their own inspirations. So I take this re-release from MAGUS as a reminder of how to form a band in creating something different while staying completely engraved in utter underground & spiritual reflections. The only change that occured is that the 7" was heavier & slower recorded than this re-release and so sounded darker & better, so if you still can find it somewhere... don't hesitate to buy it at all costs! MASTER (USA) "FOLLOW YOUR SAVIOR" MCD 2001 METAL AGE. Three tracks that keeps the MASTER's trademark longing forever, more modern Thrash in the stop-and-go riffing now but with solos which is always something that attracts me in Metal in general. Just the modern production doesn't belong to MASTER in my opinion, but what can I do?
MENTAL HORROR (BRA) "EXTREME EVOLUTIVE TRAUMA" MCD-R 99 Self-prod. "Tortured" & "Profane Mind" are two bonus tracks from oct.'99 along with their excellent Demo 98 that got them an interview for issue #666! I'm not sure this recordable-CD is for sale but you can write them to know a little more about it. What is splendid with this band is that they keep everything as fast as possible with chaotic & infernal leads but they do things different than Krisiun or Rebaelliun, they simply achieved the same level of musicianship in my opinion, they are great technicians. Of course the Demo is far to be perfect but I understand pretty well their point about what they want to offer, something really extreme, dark, aggressive, musical & brutal and it has to be encouraged because they kick ass! I crave for these unrelenting solos at the speed of light, I've always been into that intense style of chaotic leads, it rules to me, it is supreme!!! Let's talk about these two bonus tracks now: the sound is rawer and got it right in my face, it explodes & destroys anything around me, the intensity of Black Metal with pulverizing old Death Metal sound is a dreadful atomic Metal weapon!!! Fantastic sound, they don't leave up one second of calmness and you can now hear the drums properly, they definitely are with KRISIUN & REBAELLIUN at the forefront of a new revival of true ferocious and hateful Brazilian Death Metal Demons that has disappeared for too long now, the dawn has come for us to show the craps what REAL Metal is all about: to surpass your limitations!!! These 2 new songs contain a lot more rage than their Demo had, more blackish in the way Diabolic do but faster, more extreme so this is a good encouraging evilution! This is something very special, it cames as bonus CD along with "Formulas Fatal To The Flesh", I don't think it's a rarity but as I adore all those solos by Trey Azagthoth, I can't resist to speak a little about it! You'll find in some of the solos from "Domination" & "Formulas..." , supposed with a difference as they're titled a bit differently but to me it's just the same solo repeated twice, I mean those who end by 'Alt' are sounding drastically the same as the one just before so in total of 40 tracks for 18mn, there's only 26 distinctively different solos as 14 ended by a 'Alt' and I have still not pointed what the modification he did bring to them? Maybe an unpalpable subtle sound effect... Only Trey can tell you what it's all about! Hail to him & his genius! It's interesting for those who absolute love solos & skills, BUY OR DIE!

MASTER (USA) "FOLLOW YOUR SAVIOR" MCD 2001 METAL AGE. Three tracks that keeps the MASTER's trademark longing forever, more modern Thrash in the stop-and-go riffing now but with solos which is always something that attracts me in Metal in general. Just the modern production doesn't belong to MASTER in my opinion, but what can I do?
MENTAL HORROR (BRA) "EXTREME EVOLUTIVE TRAUMA" MCD-R 99 Self-prod. "Tortured" & "Profane Mind" are two bonus tracks from oct.'99 along with their excellent Demo 98 that got them an interview for issue #666! I'm not sure this recordable-CD is for sale but you can write them to know a little more about it. What is splendid with this band is that they keep everything as fast as possible with chaotic & infernal leads but they do things different than Krisiun or Rebaelliun, they simply achieved the same level of musicianship in my opinion, they are great technicians. Of course the Demo is far to be perfect but I understand pretty well their point about what they want to offer, something really extreme, dark, aggressive, musical & brutal and it has to be encouraged because they kick ass! I crave for these unrelenting solos at the speed of light, I've always been into that intense style of chaotic leads, it rules to me, it is supreme!!! Let's talk about these two bonus tracks now: the sound is rawer and got it right in my face, it explodes & destroys anything around me, the intensity of Black Metal with pulverizing old Death Metal sound is a dreadful atomic Metal weapon!!! Fantastic sound, they don't leave up one second of calmness and you can now hear the drums properly, they definitely are with KRISIUN & REBAELLIUN at the forefront of a new revival of true ferocious and hateful Brazilian Death Metal Demons that has disappeared for too long now, the dawn has come for us to show the craps what REAL Metal is all about: to surpass your limitations!!! These 2 new songs contain a lot more rage than their Demo had, more blackish in the way Diabolic do but faster, more extreme so this is a good encouraging evilution! MERENDINE ATOMICHE (ITA) "THE HOLY METAL" MCD 2000 NO BRAIN. Newer Thrash bands never attracted me and this one is no exception... Those linear vocals a la sepultura are shit! I prefer when he really sings, that makes me appreciate the music much better, mix of old & new school Thrash with some calm moments like in some old Heavy Metal albums. MORBID ANGEL (USA) "LOVE OF LAVA" Bonus MCD 99 EARACHE. Oh, oh! This is something very special, it cames as bonus CD along with "Formulas Fatal To The Flesh", I don't think it's a rarity but as I adore all those solos by Trey Azagthoth, I can't resist to speak a little about it! You'll find in some of the solos from "Domination" & "Formulas..." , supposed with a difference as they're titled a bit differently but to me it's just the same solo repeated twice, I mean those who end by 'Alt' are sounding drastically the same as the one just before so in total of 40 tracks for 18mn, there's only 26 distinctively different solos as 14 ended by a 'Alt' and I have still not pointed what the modification he did bring to them? Maybe an unpalpable subtle sound effect... Only Trey can tell you what it's all about! Hail to him & his genius! It's interesting for those who absolute love solos & skills, BUY OR DIE!
MUTAZIA (Swe) "No existing beliefs" MCD 2000 Self-prod. Old-school mid-paced Death/Thrash Metal that sounds like early ASPHYX & RESURRECTION, true spirit has been trapped in this excellent effort that relates to the past and it is great to hear that in year 2000 when many new bands want to sound like the new trends of metal, support the real underground music with haunted atmospheres: BUY OR DIE!!!

LEAD (USA) "MEDITATION OF FLESH" MCD 99 Self-prod. Okay, another good American blast in the vein of TON, DEEDS OF FLESH, DYING FETUS & old CRYPTOPSY just they don't go hyperfast all the time but more original in their way, including some small melodic passages and unrelenting technical drummings. Sounds fucking great and they impressed me at first encounter, truly original & technical materials will always make mediocre bands ashamed, that's why we must support bands like LEAD, BUY OR DIE!!! It is described as a Thrash Metal band like in the old days, I'd say yes but with a shitty screaming black metal voice, definitely not for me! The music fits the description but lacks of tightness, will not shadowing bands like Exciter nor Master that's for sure, some good structures but nothing to stimulate my old-school organs, average. lustcurse@usa.net

KEVLAR SKIN (SPA) "SYNTHETIC GOD" MCD-R 2001 Self-prod. 4 tracks in the vein of old Suffocation, to get that crude "Reincremation" sound isn't easy... anyway they tried! Much more groovy guttural stuff influenced that tends to get popular now, this reminds me a jam session I had improvised with some friends after lots of pots smoking & alcohol/vomit some years ago...! It was basically that kind of noise but KEVLAR SKIN obviously have some structures and certainly rehearsed a couple of times before recording this, which wasn't my case! The result is just below average to me and I don't feel that excited about this new band... Dying Fetus, Pyrexia, Eternal Suffering are also mentionned as influences, I can say that they remind me those bands but less extreme and a little slower, just like CYANOSIS in some ways without a good production (it's very raw at the border of noise/grind...).
